Irish, classical violinist, Hilda O’ Mahony, feels a strong impulse to push boundaries in the classical music world. Showcasing a broad range of classical music, from Bach to post modern composer Alfred Schnittke, to the minimal music of Phillip Glass & Arvo Pärt, along with new age contemporary composers,  Max Richter, presenting unique music is what sets Hilda apart.

An avid chamber musician, Hilda has performed in all major Irish venues, completing national residencies, part of the Dublin International Chamber Music Festival (formerly the KBC Great Music in Irish Houses), as support act, Galway Music Residency and international residency with the International Aurora Chamber Music Festival Sweden, where Hilda lead Mendelssohn’s Octet for Strings, along with appointed section leader of second violins with the Aurora Symphony Orchestra, conducted under the baton of the Legendary Maestro, Lief Segerstam. As part of the NCH International Concert Series, Hilda’s violin/piano duo were chosen to perform in Masterclass for renowned Nikolaj Znaider & Robert KulekHilda was the winning recipient of the competitive TU Conservatory Travel Bursary, allowing her to travel to the International Academy, Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, to study & perform with renowned pedagogues.

As a collaborator, Hilda enjoys exploring different elements of classical music. Recently, Hilda was invited to collaborate & perform Irish composer David Coonan’s new work ‘Sonnets of Dark Love’ as part of the International Clarinet Festival, 2024. A versitile performer, Hilda enjoys performing works of folk influence; Romanian Dances, Spanish Dances, Argentine Tangos, as well as a Film Music. Hilda is one of the co-founding members of Hibertango Quintet. Commercially, Hilda has collaborated with artists from a wide range of genres; Vladimir Jabolkov Four Seasons Explained Tour as well as Global Multi-Platinum artist Hozier, to mention a few. As an orchestral player, Hilda has freelanced on a variety of projects with the RTE Concert Orchestra. 

With a keen interest in 20th Century Music, and in an effort to bring classical music to a younger, wider audience, Hilda is the Artistic Director of the newly created project, enVELop, a collaboration of classical music with artists of multi disciplines, launching November, 2024.

Hilda began her musical journey at 6 years. At 13, she was invited to her first International Masterclass, in Finland, where she performed for Galina Turchananinova known most famously for training todays’ legendary violinist, Maxim Vengarov. By 16, Hilda was competing Internationally in Europe. Hilda was a young student of Professor Ronald Masin of the Young European School (YES). After an 8 year hiatus, she returned to her violin studies with renewed perspective & energy. She completed her Post Graduate studies with Honours at the TU Conservatory, participating in many National & International masterclasses, with outstanding teachers; Gyula Stuller, David O Doherty, Christian Favre, Nikolaj Znaider, Olivier Charlier, Aaron Boyd, Barry Douglas, Viviane Hagner.
